Experimental Photography

The start of the new Millennium saw me immersed in the darkroom as a student at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). It was a breath of fresh-if chemical-air to be working in those dark cubicles with friends and supported by talented mentors. Cross processing, long exposures, various filters uses, pinhole photography, underwater and my final end of year show-Infra red photography. I loved it all.

Thats why now, even as a clinical photographer, experimenting with analogue & digital form fascinates me. The scientific changes within camera systems for medical use offers a world of new possibilities. Taking time, for slow processes such as chemigrams, pinhole images, cyanotype and mixing natural processes with photography is to me meditative.

The works of Susan Derges, Garry Fabian Miller and Floris Neusüss inspire me to create something physically real in a very large, image populated world.
